Monday, April 25, 2005Another post about Google ![]() Q: How can you use 1000+ computers for free? A: Go to google.com, type in a search query and submit it. I'm watching an inspiring documentary: Google— A Behind the Scenes Look. I am inspired by everything that Google does. As I mention in my bio, the internet has been the fulfillment of one of my childhood dreams. In my opinion, Google is the most important component of the internet, the hub that makes all the other parts useful. Google's stated mission is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." Their motto is "Don't be evil". How cool is that? BitTorrent users can download the documentary by using this link: http://torrentspy.com/download.asp?id=232957.

If you have Quicktime installed, click here for a much higher-quality version. The movie is due in theatres April 29, 2005. I don't recall ever being so impressed by a preview before. I simply had to come out of hiding to share it with ya'all.

Saturday, November 13, 2004Nullsoft, 1997-2004 ![]() AOL kills off the last maverick tech company. Slate magazine— "When America Online purged its tiny Nullsoft branch of all but three employees this week, it lost arguably the most prolific division of the company. Not that you could really blame AOL for the mass layoffs?all of Nullsoft's projects were spitballs tossed at the honchos upstairs. Before the AOL days, Nullsoft founder Justin Frankel and his team of whiz kids practically invented the MP3 craze when they rolled out their Winamp player and Shoutcast server. When AOL paid millions to buy the then-20-year-old Frankel's services in 1999, he used his new gig to become what Rolling Stone called 'the Net's No. 1 punk.' " more... |
